Revision of Slovenia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy 2021–2027 and the official launch of the next round of the “entrepreneurial discovery” process

Tagged under

Slovenia has started its intensive preparations for the implementation of the European cohesion policy in the programme period 2021–2027. One of the conditions for harmonising the documents with the European Commission is a properly revised Slovenia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S4).

With the objective of continuing the revision of S4, a joint workshop of representatives from the ministries and nine SRIPs was organised on Wednesday, 2 September 2020, under the auspices of the Smart Specialisation Coordination Division. The focus was on reviewing the action plans submitted by SRIPs and the exchange of views between the ministries. The workshop represents the official launch of the next round of the “entrepreneurial discovery” process in the light of S4’s revision, which includes relevant stakeholders through SRIPs.

At the workshop, Matej Gajzer, the Managing Director of SRIP Smart Buildings and Home including Wood Chain (SRIP PSiDL) as well as of TECES, presented the key aspects of the action plan’s revision and SRIP PSiDL’s fundamental spheres of operation.

The Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) has grown in importance within the European Union and represents one of the conditions of eligibility for certain EU funding applications. In Slovenia, the Sector for the Coordination of Smart Specialisation, which is part of the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy of the Republic of Slovenia (Si GOEDCP), is responsible for its proper preparation, management and monitoring. You can read more about the Sector and S4 HERE.

The revision of S4 is partly based on the revision of the action plans of nine Strategic Development & Innovation Partnerships (SRIPs) which will form the basis of more effective targeting of support, development and legislative measures of the State in 2021–2027.

At SRIP Smart Buildings and Home including Wood Chain, we have also completely revised the action plan, with the aim of simplifying members’ operations in the areas of joint development, value chains support, internationalisation, human resources development, and more.
